Taking training to the next phase

TFP and ICA extend partnership on anti-money-laundering and sanctions awareness training

We are delighted to have extended our partnership with the International Compliance Association (ICA) to deliver ICA certificates and expert-led training sessions in sanctions awareness and anti-money laundering to TFP partner banks.

The ICA is the leading professional body for the global regulatory and financial crime compliance community.

The ICA and EBRD first started working together in 2018, operating a joint scholarship programme that delivered qualifications in governance, risk, compliance and financial crime prevention to financial services professionals throughout the region.

The agreement follows a recruitment drive for compliance officers in the TFP partner banks, which are looking to equip professionals with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills to effectively manage risk and navigate the complex sanctions landscape. The agreement will not only support trade finance through capacity-building projects, but also contribute to better access to much-needed financing and support the EBRD’s objectives to provide education, training and know-how across its network.

Rob Phillipson, Managing Director, ICA, commented: “The EBRD’s TFP is a power for good and it is a great privilege to work in concert with the team to ensure its partner banks are able to meet international standards across a broad range of financial crime prevention, trade-based AML and topics related to sanctions risk management.”

Rudolf Putz, Head of the TFP, added: “In partnership with the ICA we have successfully trained and certified more than 800 trade finance bankers and compliance officers in compliance. The combination of e-learning and in-person workshops has proven instrumental in elevating the skills and knowledge of our partner banks across the EBRD regions.”

The EBRD’s TFP is a power for good and it is a great privilege to work in concert with the team.
