Factoring conference in Tbilisi hailed a success
The TFP is working with banks in the Caucasus to promote the use of factoring and spread knowledge of trade and supply chain finance
The Regional Trade Finance and Factoring Conference for Banks and Corporates hosted in #Tbilisi on 20-21 October was a resounding success.
The EBRD Trade Facilitation Programme, together with the FCI , the International Chamber of Commerce in Georgia and ICC UAE, gathered more than 100 leading industry professionals to discuss the latest developments in demand guarantees, trade disputes, SWIFT standards, factoring and supply chain finance for banks and businesses.
Factoring is relatively new throughout the Caucasus. The Covid-19 outbreak slowed its development but there now are signs of recovery and to speed up this process banks are working closely with the TFP on capacity building initiatives.
The first day of the event was aimed at bankers, focusing on the trade and supply chain finance industry, its potential and where it is headed, while the second day was aimed at both bankers and corporates, giving an overview of how factoring works using case studies and panel discussions.
