Powering Georgia’s green ambitions
The TFP team hosted a forum in Tbilisi to discuss the country’s transition to a green economy
Accelerating green transition is one of the EBRD’s strategic priorities for Georgia. With that in mind the TFP team hosted a sustainable finance forum in Tbilisi with the International Chamber of Commerce Georgia and the National Bank of Georgia.
The aim was to raise awareness of the trade in green technologies, the role of the financial sector, and low-carbon transition among local businesses and commercial banks. Sixty-one per cent of EBRD financing currently goes to the green economy.
Attendees enjoyed presentations and discussions on decarbonising the economy, the readiness of the financial sector to mainstream sustainable finance, and financial instruments of green economy transition, among other things.
Our thanks go to all who contributed to the event, including our colleagues in the Tbilisi Resident Office. Special thanks go to Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, Director, Regional Head of Caucasus, for opening the event and welcoming participants. We also thank Nana Khurodze, Associate Director, Senior Banker, TFP for sharing her thoughts on Green TFP.
